LEYLAND CONGREGATIONAL CUBS
THE BEGINNING

The Pack was formed in March 1932 by Mr H Barker who became GSM.
Mrs Sherwin was appointed CM with Miss Moore her assistant and these two people built the pack up to standard. The Pack life was a very happy one and although Scout work was somewhat neglected other Cub activities were practiced with success. The Pack had many rambles and expeditions in the country thanks to the Old Wolves previously mentioned. In 1933 the pack was still going strong and at the end of the year there were eighteen Cubs. Later on, these officers were forced to cease their work with the Pack and Mr J Wildman was appointed CM. This man continued the good work and the Pack kept on the upward grade. In June 1935 a district Jamberette was held in Leyland, and this was attended by Sir Percy Everett (Deputy Chief Commissioner). At this event the Cubs put on a display in which a party of Settlers were attacked by Indians. The Cubs put up a very good show and were complimented on their fine effort. The Jamberette lasted throughout the weekend and drew a great number of the public. In 1935 Mr E Grice took over the Pack and did good work until he was made GSM in June 1936.
